The Permit Process
The Permit Process is the most sophisticated application that controls the inner workings of all applications. A permit is a control mechanism to relate P.I.'s, Supervisors, and Managers along with the space that has been allocated to their group. In addition, the personnel that is assigned to work within that "area of interest" can also be amended to indicate the type of worker function they will be performing, the training that is required, the PPE, and finally the Medical Surveillance required to assure compliance. Each Permit is adapted to the type of work for the specific area of interest. Examples include RAM, BIO, CHEM, Laser, X-Ray, and General. Additional equipment can be added and linked to the permit along with any type of documentation that helps in the identification and explanation of the workflow. These are all key ingredients to properly record and document what type of research and/or work being conducted within a permit process.
